Did you know that each year about 500,000,000,000 (that's 500 billion!) plastic bags are made? Only 1-2% of these plastic bags are recycled, which means that a whole lot of plastic ends up in dumps which pollutes our air, land, and water. The other billions fill our oceans with tiny bits of shredded plastic that can never go away and get eaten by all sorts of creatures. Note: Plastic is not a basic food group. So, what can we do better?

My dad and I (I'm Ryan. I'm 9) decided to tackle this problem by using cotton bags every time we went shopping. Then we thought it would be neat if everyone carried a bag that reminded people to reuse. We came up with the idea of the EARTHSACK. That's where you come in...
